See inside the fish
Try dissecting a herring
What does a herring look like on the inside, and why is it so fascinating?
Get up close to one of the most important fish in Danish waters as we explore the herring and its inner workings. Together with the museum guide, you’ll have the chance to dissect a herring and learn more about the fish’s anatomy, organs and life in the sea.
Along the way, you’ll take a closer look at how the herring breathes, finds food and moves through the water, amongst other things.
An activity for curious children and adults, where the whole family can join in.
See inside the fish takes place on selected days. Keep an eye on the daily programme to see if the activity is taking place on the day you plan to visit us.
Practical information
- The price is 10 DKK per person to take part, and each participant receives their own MSC-certified herring
- Limited number of seats (15 per dissection)
- Children up to the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult
- The activity lasts 45–60 minutes
